Abstract:

Health Level Seven International (HL7) is a not-for-profit, ANSI-accredited standards developing organization dedicated to providing a comprehensive framework and related standards for the exchange, integration, sharing, and retrieval of electronic health information that supports clinical practice and the management, delivery and evaluation of health services. The talk provides an overview of Standards based Health Informatics for healthcare interoperability.

Bio:

Gora Datta, HL7 International Ambassador, is the founding Chairman and CEO of CAL2CAL group of companies (estd. 1996 in California, USA: http://www.cal2cal.com) – a multi-national innovative ICT products and solutions organization with subsidiary and offices in Australia, Canada, India, UK & USA.

Gora is an author of multiple technical papers published in international journals. He is also invited to speak as a thought leader and subject matter expert on e-health & mobile ICT. He has made presentations at various international conferences, workshops & seminars; & has taught courses at leading Universities around the globe. As an HL7 International Ambassador, he is an authorized speaker of the organization. As a representative of International Chambers of Commerce to the UN World Summit on Information Society (WSIS:Tunis 2005), he has been quoted by press across the world on his thoughts on business opportunities in the emerging markets. Gora has won many international awards e.g., the HL7 International 2009 Volunteer of the Year, IEEE 2009 & 2008  Certificate of Appreciation, 2005 Best paper Award at HL7 International Healthcare Conference in Taiwan.

As an eHealth, public health and ICT subject matter expert, Gora has provided consultancy to & collaborated with large governmental organizations (like the County of Los Angeles, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, USA; Ministry of Finance, Government of India) and multi-lateral agencies (like The World Bank, WHO, UNICEF) to name a few. He focuses on mobile technology based, cost effective, standards based open solutions for social protection and healthcare delivery in both developed and developing world.

Gora is a representative of USA (as Country Delegate) at ISO Health Informatics committee: TC 215. He is a Science (MS Honors) and Engineering (B.E. Honors) alumnus of B.I.T.S., Pilani, India.  He is also a Senior Member of both ACM and IEEE.
